　私はマンション住まいなので庭がないが、ベランダでミニトマト、ニラ、シソを今育てている。

毎日、植物を見るのは楽しく、おいしく食べられるのも良い。

娘も私の年齢になれば、この楽しさが分かるようになるだろうか。

　話は全く変わるが、娘の家からの帰路で良いことがあった。

娘の家へは自転車で行ったのだが、途中、長いダラダラ坂がある。

二台の自転車がなんとかすれ違えるが、私が上っていくと、小学生のサッカー少年たちが下ってきた。

　私は左に寄って、その少年たちが通り過ぎるのを待っていた。

最初にすれ違った子たちは、そのまま通り過ぎたが、最後から二人目の子が、私に黙礼をした。

そして、最後の子も同じようにした。

　スポーツをしている子は礼儀を教えてもらい、目上の人に対する接し方も自然に身に付くのだろう。

　いつも思うのだが、なぜもっと用心して行動しないのかと思ってしまう。

8月で5歳になる孫娘が興味をもったので、近づいていくと、私たちに黙礼をした。

すると、関心を示さなかった見学の人たちが、足を止めて見始めた。

何も食べずにジッとしているミンちゃんを見ていて、なんとか食べさせようと色々してみたが、自分の意志で全く食べなかった。

一週間ミンちゃんを見ていて、生物は死を迎えるとき苦しみに耐えて耐えていかなければならないのだと思った。

　ミンちゃんが亡くなって主人が寂しがっている。

毎朝、主人はミンちゃんをブラッシングしていた。

主人が洗面所に行くと後をついて行ってブラッシングさせるのだった。

　昨夜、眠れずに色々考えていたら、2年前ギターサークルの仲間とお花見に出かけたときの事を思い出した。

　そのツアーは格安で（3980円）5カ所をまわり、桃、ボケの花、カタクリの花、さくら、

水芭蕉と盛りだくさんだった。

　その様なお花見ツアーだったのでバスは満員で中年のおばさんたちで一杯だった。

　乗ったときに、ガイドさんから、ゴミは持ち帰るように言われた。

そして、バスの前方にも、持ち帰るように張り紙がしてあった。

　目的地に着くとあわてて見学し、次の場所へ移動するという強行軍だったが、誰も文句を言う人は無かった。

花がみごとだったことと、格安ということが皆の不満を封じ込めたのだろう。

　帰路の途中、トイレタイムでサービスエリアに駐まった。

　その時、後ろの席の方から、おばさんの声で、　”　このゴミをガイドさんに渡して捨ててもらってよ　”　と、厚かましく言う声が聞こえた。

皆、何も言わずトイレに行くために、出口へ歩を進めていた。

すると、また、　”　前に渡してよ　”　と、子供がワガママをいうように何度も叫んでいた。

　すると、ギターの仲間のKさんが、　”　ゴミは持ち帰るように言われてますよ。　”と言った。

それでも、そのワガママ女は　”　ねえ、　渡してよ　”　と叫んでいた。

皆あきれていたが、無視をして出口へと向かっていた。

　Kさんが、　”　自分で持っていかはったら。　”と、関西弁で言うと、その女は黙った。

皆、よく言ってくれたと、心の中で思ったに違いない。

　ワガママで自分の事しか考えない人が必ずいるものだ。

　伯父さんが亡くなり、事情があり、家を売ることになった。

すると、額の裏から叔母の（私の母の姉）写真が3枚見つかった。

　伯父は戦争中、満州鉄道に勤めていたので、満州に住んでいた。

叔母はそこで結核にかかり、終戦間際、三人の娘を連れて日本に帰ってきた。

そして、私の実家で亡くなった。

伯父さんは、こまって、男の子を一人連れた人と再婚をした。

伯父さんは、再婚した人に悪いと思い叔母の写真を全て捨ててしまった。

その様に聞いていた。

だから、三人の姉妹は母親の顔を見ることなく大人になった。

末っ子のヤッコは三歳だったので、全く母親の顔を知らなかった。

　その見つかった写真をコンピューターで大きくし、きれいに修正した。

初めて見た叔母は、噂に聞いていた通り、女優さんのようにきれいな人だった。

叔母は写真屋でたくさん写真を撮っていたのに、一枚も写真が無いと母はこぼしていた。

その見つかった写真は貴重だった。

叔母の写真は彼岸とお盆に、実家のお仏壇に飾られる。

　末っ子のヤッコは高校生になった頃から、一人で私の実家に来るようになった。

そして、結婚すると、旦那さんと子供を連れて泊まったりしていた。

すると、上の二人の姉たちも家族を連れて来るようになった。

今でも年に一回は3家族が私の実家に来て、にぎやかに過ごしている。

　ヤッコは母親を知らずに育ったので、私の母に自分の母親を見つけていたのかもしれない。

　私の母も、三姉妹の姪たちの家族が来るのを喜んでいる。

　母からビックリしたと電話があった。

今年で８０歳になる母に、初めて母の日に花をプレゼントしたからだ。

義母には毎年花を贈ってきたが、自分の母には照れくささもあり送っていなかった。

それと、母には、小遣いをあげたり、必要なものを買ってあげたりしていたので、特別に母の日に贈り物をしなくても良いと思っていた。 

　でも、とても喜んでいて、おじいちゃんとビックリしたと何度も言ったと話していた。

　自分の母親を誉めるのは変かもしれないが、母は若い頃美人で、おしゃれな人だった。

そして、やさしい人で、人とあらそったことがない。

子供の私もおこられた事がなく、大事に育てられた。

８０歳になるが、若くて、家事も殆どこなしている。

　とてもすばらしい母に思えるが、実はものをしらなすぎて、よく私にきいてくる。

　主人と結婚が決まった頃、母がノートに漢字を書いていた。

別に気にもとめなかったが、後年、判った。（多分….)

母は勉強していたのだ。

　何故かというと、主人の母は師範学校をでて学校の先生をしていた。

私の母は自分でも言っているのだが、頭が良くなかったらしい。

私が結婚すると義母と付き合っていかなければならない不安があったのだろう。

母はやさしい人にありがちな気の小さい人間なので。

でも、その勉強はすぐに終わっていた。

そして、離れたところに住んでいる義母と母は会うことはあまり無い。

よくしたもので、ものを知らない母には、物知りの父が側にいる。

　母の日のプレゼントをこんなに喜んでくれるのなら、もっと早く送ればよかった。

　スーパーなどでの買い物中に、店員さんとすれちがう時、　”　いらっしゃいませ　”　と　声をかけてくれる。

　昨日、買い物中、私とすれちがった５０代の女の店員さんが　”　いらっしゃい　”と　声をかけてきた。

アレッ、家にお邪魔した時の様な言い方だと思った。

多分、声をかけなければとあせって、ついいつも言っている　”　いらっしゃい　”　になってしまったのだろう。

それとも、魚屋さんの店員さんだったのかな？
